Mata students have many opportunities for involvement outside of class. Check out a few of the extracurricular and community activities they can take part in!
"How to Eat Fried Worms" Book Club culminates in a gummy worm treat.Mata has had the benefit of several author visits, including Jane O'Connor (Fancy Nancy) and Brandon Mull (Dragonwatch).Mata participates in the annual Destination Imagination program and competitionsStudents may participate in gardening both during school and outside of school hours.Picnic and movie on the lawn is a new tradition at Mata. Families love it!Lone Star Challenge is just one of the elective academic teams Mata students may participate in.Students and families can help decorate and ride along with our float in the annual 4th of July Parade.Math Club is an example of a choice academics-for-fun activity during the school day.Students are encouraged to participate in the annual PTA Reflections competition. Mata has had several students advance and win honors in the program.Mata puts on two musicals each year, in which many students can participate.Mata is home to several robotics teams, several of which have competed and won awards.Our strings program is amazing! Students participate in class, concerts and competitions.For active students and families, opportunities are available to participate in the Oncor Kid's Race, Color Run, Field Day, sports clubs, and more!
